Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday praised the country’s forces for what he described as heavy blows to Russia across the front lines, border areas, and inside Russian territory through long-range strikes.
“Today I want to especially thank all our warriors who are inflicting truly significant losses on Russia. Losses at the front. Losses along the border. Losses on Russia’s own territory thanks to our long-range strikes,” Zelenskyy said via his post on X.
He stressed that the most effective sanctions against Russia are attacks on its oil infrastructure. “The most effective sanctions – the ones that work the fastest – are the fires at Russia’s oil refineries, its terminals, oil depots. To significantly restrict Russia’s oil industry is to significantly restrict the war,” he said.
Zelenskyy said Russia’s war machine depends on oil, gas, and other energy resources, and credited Ukraine’s special forces for a recent strike in Primorsk. “I thank the special forces of the Security Service of Ukraine, who did a great job in Primorsk recently, hitting Russia’s largest oil terminal on the Baltic Sea. There is substantial damage; everything has been verified. And this is tangible for the enemy,” he said.
He added that Ukrainian special forces are monitoring Russia’s other energy export hubs. “Our special forces are also keeping an eye on the port of Ust-Luga and all other Russian points of access to the world market. Today, the Security Service of Ukraine’s drones are capable of operating at distances of more than a thousand kilometres. The Special Operations Forces, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Foreign Intelligence Service, and the Defence Intelligence are also involved. I thank them all for their accuracy,” Zelenskyy said.
