Star Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi got involved in a heated exchange with South Africa batter Matthew Breetzke during the third match of the tri-series on Wednesday, February 12 at National Stadium, Karachi. South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bat first in a must-win encounter as his team got off to a great start.
Afridi drew the first blood for the hosts as he made Tony de Zorzi edge one to Salman Agha at first slip to get his first wicket of the match. However, after the early blow, captain Bavuma (82 off 96) and Breetzkee got involved in a 119-run stand to frustrate Pakistan bowlers.

During their partnership, tempers flared in the middle as Afridi and Breetzkee got involved in a heated exchange. In the 29th over of the innings, Breetzke made a gesture of hitting the Pakistan fielder with his bat as he denied the single, which left Afridi annoyed. The Pakistan fast bowler immediately walked over to say a few words to the Proteas batter.
Later in the same over, Afridi got in the way of Breetzke as he was running a single. Following the collision, the two players were in each other’s faces at the non-striker’s end and got involved in a verbal exchange before being separated by the on-field umpire.
