Pakistan and New Zealand are all set to lock horns in a 5-match T20I series, starting Thursday, April 18. Rawalpindi will host the first 3 matches followed by the last 2 games at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Earlier, the hosts named a 17-member squad for the series with the aim of finding the proper combination for the T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in the West Indies and United States of America (USA).

Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim have returned after they recently reversed their retirement decisions. Senior team manager Wahab Riaz said that Amir was picked due to Haris Rauf’s shoulder injury, while Imad was brought up as Mohammad Nawaz was going through a rough patch.
Pakistan also handed maiden call-ups to Irfan Niazi, who plays for the Karachi Kings in the PSL, and Usman Khan, who smashed the fastest PSL hundred off 36 balls last year for the Multan Sultans. Babar Azam will also start his second innings as the Pakistan skipper.
New Zealand, on the other hand, will be captained by Michael Bracewell. Many cricketers, including Rachin Ravindra, Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell and Lockie Ferguson missed out due to commitments for their respective teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
